Woodland Area - A BIG thank you to TESCO `Bags of Help Grant'

A BIG thank you to TESCO `Bags of Help Grant'.
Our wonderful sensory project is now complete and all our children can now access a fully inclusive outdoor learning environment with minimal adult support.
Everyone was consulted in the discussions for the development of the area. Children, staff, parents, family and friends have worked hard to develop a space at the back of our school to create a woodland area. A fence was erected to make an inclusive entrance. A tyre ladder was installed to develop gross motor skills. An inclusive potting station has been installed. A log circle and storytelling chair enable the whole class to share experiences. An eco-friendly greenhouse has been built by threading bottles onto canes to enable children to grow products which they can use during life skills to cook and enjoy healthy food. Protective clothing was purchased for all the children to enable access into the woodland area. Sovereign installed a pergola to provide an inclusive shelter and the wind chimes have provided interest along the woodland walk. Stanleys erected a fence alongside the pathway to keep the children safe. A base was put down in preparation for a storage shed which was purchased and built by B & Q.
With the area being in the school grounds the children can now have access to the woodland area on a daily basis, enjoying the changes in nature throughout the year. The pathways and raised beds are wheelchair friendly. The children are able to explore wild life and nature - making bug hotels. The children are able to participate in gardening projects which they can then use for culinary skills in the life skills club. The children are benefitting from being able to learn outside in a structured environment giving them the freedom to manage their own risks.

Thank you to everyone for your help and support.
