Day 1

Hello everyone,

There are some more activities planned for you today. Have fun!

Activity 1 - My Communication, Language and literacy

Semi-formal-

Today we are going to be looking our main class story again. There is a youtube link below that will take you to our main story ‘Outside my Window’.  Support your child listening to the story on a phone, iPad or a computer.

In your resource pack find the comparing images sheet and the comparing objects. With your child look at the two images of the different places the children live in the story. Help your child to match up the different objects with the correct picture. For example, the swing belongs outside the girl window, the skyscraper the boys.

When matching them up ask your child do both of them have swing outside their window? Do you? Encourage your child to say the name of the object before they match it to the image.

Activity 2 - My Thinking and problem solving –Number

Semi-formal – Today we are going to have a count around the house. In your packs you will find a sheet that you can record your findings. Encourage your child to go round the house identifying all of the items and counting as you go along. Once they have gone round all of the rooms see if they can order them from most to least. If they enjoyed that one, try our outside one too!

Activity 3 - My Creativity and play - My Art and Design

In Art sessions, we will give you two options, in case you do not have certain materials at home.  Pick an activity and enjoy!

Option 1-Make a junk model home.

Suggested materials needed;

Any different size boxes, (i.e. cereal boxes), containers, yoghurt pots, kitchen roll tubes etc,

PVA glue, glue stick or sticky tape,

Paint (optional),

Colour communication board (optional-on website-Monday's green section, day 1 and in workpack),

Scissors (optional),

Coloured paper/tissue paper,

Colour-mixing sheet (optional).

Activity-Go outside your door and look at your home if you can or have a look at a picture of your house on google maps, street view.  Talk about the features of your home, for example, how many windows it has and what shape they are, whether it has a chimney or what colour your front door is.  Gather up your saved junk modelling boxes and containers and have fun creating your home.  Stick pieces together with glue or sticky tape. Talk about the features as you stick them.  What colour and shape are they?  If you want to, add coloured paper to your home or paint it.  You can use your colour communication board again from last week, to choose your coloured paint.

Extension-Draw shaped windows and doors on paper.  Practice your cutting skills by cutting them out using scissors.  Talk about your creation.  Compare it to your real home or a picture of it.

Option 2-Draw your home.

Suggested materials needed;

Paper,

Pens/crayons/pencil crayons or chalks,

Coloured paper or old magazines/newspapers (optional),

Scissors (optional),

Glue stick (optional).

Colour communication board (optional-in your pack).

Activity-With support, draw your home, or help to draw the features of your home, when an adult has drawn the outline.  Use your colour communication board to make colour choices of pens, pencils, crayons or chalks.  Without a communication board, you can encourage your child to say “I want” and their colour choice.

Extension-Draw around any shaped objects you can find to make their windows, doors, chimney etc to add onto their home.  You can draw around them on coloured paper, or on old newspapers and magazines.  Use scissors to cut them out and stick onto their home picture.  When your home is finished, point to the windows, door, etc when asked.
