Our Key Text for this term is 'Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?' by Bill Martin Jr

Our Rhyme will be 'I'm a little Penguin'

The Topic Map will provide more detail as to what we will be exploring in class this term.

In The Sky. Autumn 2

Doves Class have been busy using their senses to explore! We have been working on a colour each week, it has been great fun. We have enjoyed cooking, number and music sessions. Doves love parachute fun, dough disco and calming nursery rhymes. We have loved spending time in the courtyard, which has been made into a garden area.

Doves Class have had such a wonderful start to the year. We are enjoying working in our focus groups, where we have experienced so much already! Ranging from sensory play, sticking, painting and puzzles. We brush our teeth everyday, which is going really well. Some of our happiest times are spent in our therapy pool, and enjoying parachute fun!

Welcome to Doves class!

We are so excited to start our wonderful Blackmarston journey together.

This term our topic is All About Me, so we will be spending time looking at our marvelous selves! We will be exploring a range of different texts but our key text will be 'One Bear at Bedtime', this will provide us with lots of opportunities for sensory exploration. This book has lots of animals in it, so it will be a great start for practising environmental sounds. Please look at our topic web above for curriculum coverage this half term.

We place great emphasis on communication, and we will encourage children to use objects or photographs to make choices. Then we will gradually introduce Communication Boards and signing. We will constantly use symbols, so that the children can communicate their needs, and we will be using signing throughout the day. We are passionate about giving our children a voice.

We will be having regular sessions in the sensory rooms, soft play, Forest School, the hydro pool, the library and the hall, so the children will continue to experience different environments, and gain greater confidence in transitioning between them.

We will share what the class have done using Class Dojo and this page.

We are always there for you on class dojo should you have any questions, or exciting things to share (we love to hear about achievements made at home!).

We are really looking forward to making the very best of the year ahead, thank you so much for your support.
