Activity 3- My thinking
Starter: Count between yourself and your child from 1 to the no. 30. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! The person saying the 5th number waves one hand, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10th child waves 2 hands continue to you get to 30. Emphasise counting in 5s
Main:
Place 5, 20, 10, 5 and 10 objects, e.g. play people, Lego™ bricks on 5 plates and cover each with a cloth. Give your child the three numbers cards: 5, 10 and 20. Uncover the first plate for a few seconds and ask chn to guess whether there are 5, 10 or 20 items. Support your child choosing a number card to estimate the amount.
