Day 3

My Communication

Focus: To remember the story.

Starter: Re-read the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc3AUuuj9_I. Go over the key parts. Asking the children questions checking their engagement. See if they can point out the main characters. What can they see in the pictures.

Activity: Create a story map that helps tell the story. Story maps are used so your child can see the whole story on one page. They can use this to help them on future tasks.  In your packs, you will find an A3 piece of paper. Get your child to place the pictures in order to tell the story using beginning, middle and end.

My  Thinking

Cut out shapes independently or with some help from an adult. Work to complete 2D shape repeating pattern activity (week 1 day 3 activity 2). Explore the pattern, for example, square, triangle - what comes next? Adult to add ‘next’ shape if child requires a prompt. Focus on one and two stage repeating patterns initially – progress to three stage for a challenge!

My World and How it Works

Focus: Creating Shadows.

This term we are experimenting with light. Watching this short YouTube clip about different shadows.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOIGOT88Aqc

Activity: Making our own shadows. Using a torch or if you don’t have one available use a lamp or just have the lights on in the room. Experiment with what shapes you can create with your shadow. I have also included in you packs the 3 little pigs cut outs so you cake make a shadow story.
