Day 4

Starter Activity - Music with Alison

Its Thursday and time for another music session with Alison and Cate.

Please play the videos several times over as they are new songs to learn. We hope you enjoy them. Get your instruments and symbols ready

Activity 2 – My Thinking and problem solving

Today we are going to listen to the story ‘The shape of things’ by Dayle Ann Dodds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJkonvA2RB8

Once you have listened to the story, find the picture in your pack. Talk to you child about different shapes and see if they can find any of the shapes in the picture. Encourage your child to write labels for the picture.

Extension – Can you make a picture using lots of different shapes? You could use things around the house to draw around.

Activity 3 – My Communication, Language and literacy - Phonics focus

Formal Good morning!

  1. Today a Youtube below will take you to today’s phonics video! The sound focus for today is the ‘p’ phoneme. In your Day 4 pack there is a phonics parent support sheet. This will help you with the action and rhyme that goes with the ‘p’ phoneme.
  2. Practise forming the ‘p’ phoneme on the ‘p’ formation sheet
  3. The link below will take you to the website ‘phonic play’. This can be assessed on a phone, iPad/tablet or computer. Play the game ‘Pick a picture’. Press start then select phase 2. Support you child matching the word to the correct picture.

Activity 3 - My World and How it Works – Forest School

Good morning! Let’s go outside and explore the world around us. You will be emailed links to the well-being breathing exercise video and ‘we are going on a leaf hunt’. However, just take time to enjoy the freedom of exploring the world around you!

If you can’t get outside I have also provided a Forest School indoors pack because it is also really good to explore the world around us in our own home!

Both our sessions start with a breathing exercise and a sensory walk. Today we are focusing on the things we can see. You can use the sensory sounds sheet to help you record what you see and maybe encourage you to look a little more closely to the world around you. Maybe you can see something that isn’t on the sheet?

Now we have had some quiet time taking time for ourselves and to look carefully to our environment it is time to make someone to look after your outdoor area!

Activity 1:            The outside world needs someone to take care of it. Create a guardian for your outside area using materials that you find around you.

Ext.                        Once you have created your guardian can you tell a story about it? Perhaps you could write the story or video yourself telling the story with the help of your grown up.

We’d love for you to share your creations with your teacher via email!

If you are having a day indoors then I have made similar activities for you to do because it is just as much fun to explore your home!

Option 2

Activity 1:            Your home needs a superhero to take care of it. Create a superhero for your home using materials that you find around you. I have provided a recipe for play dough if you would like to use this for your superhero.

Ext-                        Once you have created your superhero can you tell a story about it? Perhaps you could write the story or video yourself telling the story with the help of your grown up.

We’d love for you to share your creations with your teacher via email!
