Safeguarding of children and Operation Encompass

Our uttermost concern is the safeguarding of all children in our care. I hope that you find the policies, found in the policy section of the website, useful in explaining our stance on child protection at the school.

Above all, if you have any issue related to child protection you should contact the Headteacher of the school immediately, or if the concern is an emergency, then the police should be contacted using 999.

All schools in Herefordshire participate in a project, called Operation Encompass, which is run in partnership with West Mercia Police.

The project, which commenced in April 2019, aims to help schools to support children who are affected by domestic abuse, either directly or indirectly.

Following a domestic abuse incident attended by West Mercia, where a child/ children from our school were present, they will notify us early the next morning and prior to the start of the school day. This enables us to offer support or whatever help is needed to any child arriving at school.
We have members of staff who are trained to liaise with the police, when required, whilst ensuring support is available to the child.

We are committed to providing the best possible care and support for all our pupils. If you would like to speak to someone further about the project or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact Mike via the school office.

Online Safety advice for families at Blackmarston

We’ve created a safeguarding hub that gives our pupils’ parents access to interactive guidance on setting up parental controls on any child’s devices, as well as guidance on apps like TikTok, YouTube and Instagram and more. Let us know if they are useful!
