Autumn 1 Term Letter from the Kingfisher Team:

September 2020

Welcome back to Blackmarston! I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are as eager to return to school as we all are. Everyone in the Kingfisher team is excited to be returning to school and we are happy to be back supporting the children.

This term our whole school topic is ‘Together’. We will be looking at a range of books that will support your child’s development in understanding their emotions and the importance of working together.  We will be reading key texts such as ‘The Colour Monster Goes to School’ to help the children with their transition into a new class and ‘The invisible String’ to show the children how we are all connected to our loved ones no matter where we are.

Our Thinking and Problem Solving focuses this half term are: numbers, place value, position, direction and movement and time.
We will be using a range of counting songs, exciting activities and engaging lessons to develop your child’s knowledge of numbers. We will also be using construction and messy play to explore position and movement and stories to develop the children’s understanding of time.

We have lots of exciting art and D.T projects over the next term where the children will have lots of opportunities to be creative. We hope to work together as a team so we can create new resources for our outside courtyard. We will also be exploring different colours and looking at how they represent the different emotions we feel.

Many thanks,
Kingfisher Team
