The Tiger Who Came for Tea

This week we have been reading the book The Tiger Who came for Tea! The children have loved playing the Tea party tuff spot and exploring the tea sensory play.

Science

In science this term we have been learning about materials. In last weeks session we investigated what happens to different materials when you add heat. As a whole class we predicted what would happen to the corn kernels when heat was added in the microwave. After, we listened and watch the corn turn into pop corn! Over the afternoon some children explored what happened to ice when it was left in the warmer temperature outside and what happened to chocolate when it was near warm water.

My R.E

This term in R.E we will be thinking about 'The Word God'. We will focus on who God is and the creation story. For our first R.E session we learnt about the first two days of the creation story. After, the children explored light and dark in the classroom and separated water and the sky during water play out in the courtyard.

Building with Bricks After reading The Three Little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs

This week we have been using the story sack and sensory resources to retell the story of the The Three Little Pigs. All the children have loved exploring these resources and interacting with them independently in choice time or for our planned activities.

Autumn 1 Key Texts

Hello all!

Welcome back or welcome to Blackmarston school! We hope you've had an amazing summer and got to enjoy all the lovely sunshine. We are very excited for the year ahead in Kingfisher class and are thrilled we get to see lots of new faces in class.

This term we will start with a get to know you mini topic called 'All about me'. We will read lots of back to school books and explore our emotions with our friend the Colour Monster. We will create an all about me book that contains pictures of our family, facts about us and things we like/enjoy.

After we will move onto our topic 'Homes'. We will share stories like The Three Little Pigs and Six Dinner Sid and have lots of opportunities to make marks, engage in structured play and interact in sensory activities.

On this page you will get to see lots of photos of what we have been getting up to and information about the books we will be exploring.

Thanks,

Liss and the Kingfisher team
