Welcome back to our last term before the summer holidays.
What a fun year we've had so far!
This term the chicks will be rejoining us so we can continue to watch them grow. Our topic this term in 'In the Garden'. We will be reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and will be having more exciting visitors in class, Caterpillars! We will observe them change and grow just like the chicks and turn into beautiful butterflies.
We will be spending lots of time in our outdoor space exploring the natural phenomenon around us. We hope to develop our sensory garden to make it more natural and minibeast friendly by planting seeds, flowers, herbs and growing fruit. For more information please see our topic map above.
Owls class wrote to the the farm to send us a pet. They sent us .... chick eggs!

Key Text: Dear Farm...
Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed your Easter Holidays and the sunshine.
Due to the success of our Key text last term 'Dear Zoo' and having a four week term we decided to innovate the text 'Dear Zoo' and create 'Dear Farm'.
To bring this story to life and make it even more accessible for the learner in Owls we will be having a Chick Hatching Experience in school! On the last two weeks of term Owls class will be incubating and hatching chick eggs. We are all very excited and can't wait to share the experience with you all.
Please check out our Summer 1 topic map above for more information on what we will be doing this term.
We are very excited for our topic this term 'The Zoo'. Every week we will be introduced to new animals from our key text 'Dear Zoo' and exploring them through sensory resources and input. In class we will be singing animal and jungle rhymes, playing with animals puppets and introduced to new tactile/sensory textures through messy play.
We got lot of fun exciting things on this term. On week three we will taking part in a whole school science week and it's World Book day on the 6th March!
At the end of the term we will learn about Easter through a range of sensory and exploratory activities, songs and stories.
We hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas break. We are really excited to get back into the swing of things and can't wait to see what the new year brings.
This term we are going to be waking up our senses and developing our understanding of the world around us based on winter experiences and exploring our outdoors.
Our key text this term is 'Postman Bear'. In guided adult sessions we will explore new language and further our understanding by engaging in sensory based and concrete activities linked to our text. One of the activities will be sending a special invitation in the post!
Welcome back to Autumn 2 term! We hope you have had a lovely half term break.
Our topic this term is colours. This term we will be starting by having a week dedicated to bonfire night! We will have lots of opportunities to engage in sensory activities and experiences and explore all the different colours we might experience at bonfire night.
After that, we will move onto our new key text 'Wow Said the Owl'. Over the term we will engage it lots of sessions that give us opportunities to explore colours in a multisensory way.
Thanks,
Liss and the Owls Team.
